Paros Compass

Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Paros Compass processes information in connection with the app, including information used to provide app functionality, enable purchases, respond to requests, respect analytics choices, and maintain the service.

1. Controller and Contact

Paros Compass is the controller of the personal data described in this Privacy Policy.

For privacy questions or requests, contact:

Copied

Paros Compass currently operates without a separate incorporated company. If that changes, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.

2. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to information processed in connection with the Paros Compass app, including information processed to provide app functionality, display maps and events, manage paid access, store local app state, respond to support communication, and comply with legal obligations.

3. No Account Creation at Launch

Paros Compass does not require users to create an account in order to use the app at launch.

If account functionality is introduced in the future, this Privacy Policy must be updated before that change goes live.

4. Categories of Information Processed

Paros Compass processes only the categories of information reasonably necessary for the operation of the app and related services.

These categories include:

a. Technical and device-related information

This may include app version, device type, operating system version, language, and similar technical or diagnostic information required for app functionality, reliability, support, analytics operation where consent has been given, and service integration.

b. Saved places and local app preferences

Paros Compass stores certain app data locally on the user’s device using on-device storage. This includes saved places, analytics consent status, and cached event data used to improve the in-app experience and reduce unnecessary repeat loading.

Saved places stored locally include place ID, category, and the time the item was saved.

Analytics consent state is stored locally as accepted or declined.

Event cache data is stored locally to support event loading and freshness behavior.

c. Purchase and entitlement information

If a user unlocks paid access, Paros Compass processes limited purchase, receipt, or entitlement status information received from the relevant platform provider and related purchase infrastructure in order to validate and enable access to paid features.

Paros Compass does not receive full payment card details.

d. Support communications

If a user contacts Paros Compass, the contents of that message and related contact details may be processed in order to respond, keep support records where reasonably necessary, and handle legal or privacy-related requests.

e. Event and content delivery data

Paros Compass fetches event content from remote infrastructure and may cache that content locally on the device. Event records may include event IDs, title, venue, description, dates, image URLs, external links, and coordinates where relevant to the event experience.

f. Permissions-based data

Paros Compass may request foreground location access only after a user initiates map-related functionality that requires user- location display.

Location access is optional and is not used for background tracking.

If granted, location information is used only for the relevant in-app functionality and remains subject to the user’s device- level permission controls.

5. Purposes of Processing

Paros Compass processes information for the following purposes:

  • to provide and maintain app functionality
  • to display maps and map-related features
  • to show user location when the user grants permission
  • to remember saved places and local preferences
  • to fetch, cache, and display event content
  • to fetch wind-related data for app features
  • to enable paid access and entitlement validation
  • to respect analytics consent choices
  • to perform product analytics only where consent has been given
  • to respond to support, privacy, or legal requests
  • to maintain app security, reliability, and performance
  • to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues
  • to comply with legal and regulatory obligations

Paros Compass does not sell personal data and does not share personal data for third-party advertising purposes.

6. Legal Bases for Processing

Where required by applicable law, Paros Compass relies on one or more of the following legal bases:

  • performance of a contract, where processing is necessary to provide app functionality requested by the user
  • legitimate interests, where processing is necessary to operate, secure, support, or improve the app in a proportionate manner
  • consent, where processing depends on a permission or analytics choice made by the user
  • compliance with legal obligations, where processing is required by law

7. Third-Party Services Used in the App

Paros Compass uses third-party services where necessary to operate specific app features.

These include:

Mapbox

Used to provide map rendering, map styles, user-location display, and built-in logo and attribution controls. Map-related requests and related technical data may be processed in connection with Mapbox, subject to Mapbox’s own terms and privacy practices.

Open-Meteo

Used to fetch wind and weather-related data for fixed anchor points around Paros. This request path is used for wind functionality and does not send the user’s own device coordinates through that provider path.

PostHog

Used for consent-gated product analytics. Analytics collection is enabled only after the user has accepted analytics.

RevenueCat

Used for purchase flow support, offerings retrieval, entitlement validation, and restore purchase functionality.

Apple App Store and Google Play

Used for platform billing, transaction handling, and restore flows where paid access is offered.

Supabase

Used to read remote event content for the app.

External maps and websites

If a user chooses to open directions, operator links, event links, email, social links, or websites outside the app, that handoff is governed by the relevant third-party provider’s own terms and privacy policy.

8. Analytics and Consent

Paros Compass uses consent-gated product analytics.

Analytics collection is disabled unless the user has accepted analytics.

The app stores the user’s analytics consent status locally on the device.

If the user declines analytics, analytics events are not sent through the app’s analytics flow.

9. Data Sharing

Paros Compass does not sell personal data and does not share personal data for third-party advertising.

Information is shared only where reasonably necessary:

  • with service providers supporting app functionality
  • with platform providers in connection with app distribution or purchases
  • with analytics infrastructure only where the user has consented to analytics
  • where required by law, legal process, or regulatory obligation
  • where reasonably necessary to protect rights, users, security, or the integrity of the app

10. International Transfers

Some service providers used by Paros Compass may process data outside the user’s country.

Where required by applicable law, appropriate safeguards will be used for such transfers.

11. Data Retention

Paros Compass retains information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including app functionality, support continuity, security, recordkeeping, and legal compliance.

Information stored locally on the user’s device may remain there until deleted by the user, removed through app or device actions, or removed when the app is uninstalled, depending on the nature of the data.

Support emails or legal and privacy request records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, document handling, or comply with legal obligations.

12. User Rights

Depending on applicable law and the user’s location, the user may have rights in relation to personal data, including:

  • access
  • correction
  • deletion
  • restriction
  • objection
  • portability where applicable
  • withdrawal of consent where relevant
  • the right to lodge a complaint with a competent supervisory authority

However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

14. Children

Paros Compass is not intended for unlawful collection of children’s personal data and is not designed to knowingly process children’s personal data in violation of applicable law.
